The Railroad Exchange program continues to provide benefits both to TTCI and its exchange partners. We are in our fifth year of the program, having had seven of TTCI’s future leaders gain invaluable experience of working on location with member railroads. To date, we have had the honor or sending our team members to BNSF Railway, Norfolk Southern, CSX Transportation, Union Pacific, and Canadian National. Our next TTCI participant is Senior Engineer, Mike McHenry. He will travel to National Passenger Corp.’s (Amtrak) engineering department in 2018.
The success of the program is evident by the railroads making use of TTCI employees to support their initiatives in PTC implementation, wayside defect detection technology, vehicle/track interaction, advanced technology applications like fiber optic implementation for defect detection, effects of higher speed passenger train based operations on freight track/infrastructure and assessing high accuracy and reliable track geometry measurement technology.
Based on the interest from our Class I owners, TTCI will pursue arrangements with member railroads in the future to provide technical expertise at their facilities for a longer term.
