TTCI introduces 125-mph testing

While TTCI has always had a variety of freight cars available for rail testing, there has been a limited amount of passenger equipment similarly available that is resident on site. In 2017, we enhanced our high speed testing capabilities with the acquisition of two AEM-7 locomotives and six baggage cars, provided by National Passenger Corp. (Amtrak).

With a speed capability in excess of 125 mph, these locomotives will help us continue to meet the increasing needs of our customers. The railcars, typically operated at lower speeds, will be speed upgraded to operate at 125 mph as well. This allows TTCI to provide enhanced passenger car testing opportunities aided by the AEM-7, and to offer a physical and aerodynamic drag load of up to six passenger car loads behind a customers’ locomotive.
