NuDAQ Improves Rolling Stock Data Collection

Efforts continued in 2017 to develop unattended data monitoring/collection capabilities using an off-the-shelf data acquisition system (DAQ) and a custom interface designed and developed by TTCI. Preliminarily dubbed “the NuDAQ”, the New Un-manned Data AcQuisition system provides valuable rolling stock data that has proven in the past to be difficult to gather for a sustainable amount of time.

Compact and rugged, the NuDAQ has been tested in extreme environmental and railroad situations. The system uses a fraction of the power used by conventional DAQ systems and allows a smaller peripheral power infrastructure. TTCI can monitor the system’s activity and health, process the data in real time and remotely transmit (full) data without interfering with data collection.
